The benefits of minimally-invasive surgery go beyond smaller scars – it can mean less pain, shorter recovery times and shorter hospital stays.

Traditional knee replacements usually require an eight-to10-inch incision on the knee, while minimally-invasive surgeries are four to six inches. The minimally-invasive procedures also can spare the muscles around the knee, meaning potentially less damage to the tissue around the knee, less blood loss, better range of motion and less pain following surgery.

Instead of the three months it takes most patients to recover from traditional knee replacement surgery patients who have had minimally-invasive surgery can recover in about half that time
